Lost in Chang'an

By midsummer, when everything is covered in bloom,
And a lean horse walks into the sunset on an ancient road,
When a raft made of bamboo sails across the horizon,
I miss home.

The ever-changing drift sand,
the spinning sound of a Pipa.
Under the moonlight, when I close my eyes,
I think of her.

I want to stay by your side,
and gather lotus seeds in our raft,
listen to the rippling water in the pond,
in love and inseperable.

I want to be with you,
but for this distance too great,
my wish will only stay but a fleeting thought.

I've travelled empty towns,
climbed up mountains high,
and walked through the lonely smoke of the great dessert.

It's a long way home,
the wind is light,
time is too short.

I wait for maple leaves to fall over Chang'an,
until we can continue our fate,
holding hands and watch the mountains turn red in the fall.
