【澳总理就大规模儿童性侵向受害者致“国家道歉”,几度哽咽:我们辜负了他们;此举距上一次全国性正式道歉已有10年】Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison delivered an emotional apology to victims and survivors of child sexual abuse on behalf of the nation in Canberra on Monday. The apology came after a five-year investigation which found thousands of children had suffered sexual abuse for over decades in the country's institutions including schools, churches, sporting clubs and foster homes. "We are sorry," said the Prime Minister inside the Parliament House. "Sorry you are not protected. Sorry you are not listened to. We are sorry for refusing to trust the words of children, for not believing you. As we say sorry, we also say we believe you," he said. At least 16,000 people contacted the commission since it began in 2013, and by the time it concluded more than 8,000 Australians had given private testimony about instances of sexual abuse they had witnessed or experienced, CNN reported. It has been 10 years since Australian leaders took to the national stage to employ a public apology and acknowledge the country's wrongdoings – last time was in 2008, when the then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologized nationwide to the mistreatment of Australia's Indigenous population which resulted in what is known as the "Stolen Generation." #儿童性侵 澳总理道歉#
