介绍 Temple Grandin

看到一则新闻，美国一位阿斯博患者（asperger's) 把自己家改装成一个猫咪的乐园，有各种猫的隧道，藏身的地方，鳞次栉比。他与人交流困难，但是他的猫生活的非常幸福，“猫性” 充分施展。

this reminded me of Temple Grandin and her book Animals in Translation. Grandin is autistic, yet amazingly she overcome her condition and became a university professor of animal science. for decades she's been speaking up on issues related to autism and humane treatment of animals.

Grandin wrote in her book that, the way people with autism perceive the world shares many similarities with animals. (she certainly did not mean it in any derogative sense). e.g. both think in images rather than language.

如果对 Grandin 感兴趣，我推荐去读她的英文原著，而不是翻译。It's a little hard to put one's finger on it, but reading her book I could tell these are words by someone whose thought process is different -- it's eye opening for me. I very much appreciate the obstacles she overcame to present her world (and those of the animals she studies) to me. As the book title suggests, she is helping bridging the worlds of animals and of people, reminding us of a long evolutionary past that's buried deep in our psyche, yet influencing every action we take.

She has one other book called Animals Make Us Human.
