【南部战区发言人就美舰擅闯我南海岛礁邻近海域发表谈话】China urged the U.S. to stop its provocative acts following frequent U.S. warships in the South China Sea, a spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) said on Friday. In the past two days, a littoral combat ship and a missile destroyer entered the waters adjacent to China's Nansha and Xisha islands without authorization, said the spokesperson. In response, the PLA organized naval and air forces to track, verify, identify and warn the ships away, noted the spokesperson. "The Chinese military is determined and capable of safeguarding national sovereignty and security as well as maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea, no matter what tricks are played by the U.S. ships," added the spokesperson.
