Earlier this year, China announced that Maowusu Desert in the country's northwest, also known as Mu Us Desert, will be the world's first desert to vanish off the map with 93.24 percent forest cover. In the 1950s, the percentage used to be 0.9 percent. Thanks to decades of work and generations of efforts, Yulin, the city once forced to move southwards for three times due to sand storm invasion, is finally occupied by green trees.
