Story time:

So as most of you that follow me know, my relationship with @M鹿M goes back to HBDC days in early 2018. Since choreographing for him there, I've been privileged to continue working with Lu in various projects for performances, events, etc...namely with my partner in crime: Vinh. Then, in late 2019, we were asked to choreograph his tour, a project that we were so humbled and honored to take on. We started working heavily on it at the top of 2020, but we all know where that went. The pandemic continued to push the scheduled tour dates back and back to the point where we pretty much worked on the tour for the entirety of the year..virtually, may i add. Then it started to look like the tour would finally be able to happen at the top of 2021, so I packed my bags and took the solo journey to China in Dec 2020...straight into a 2-week quarantine in Shanghai, to rehearsals in Beijing, and then all the way to the 1st stop in Chongqing. Everything had finally come together, from the dancers in rehearsal, to the music direction & arrangement, to the visual spectacles throughout. We had made it to the first city and seeing over a years' worth of work on the big stage was everything that I could dream of...

Unfortunately, thats as far as we all got. On the day right before the first performance, the entire tour got shut down/cancelled because the virus began surging again in different areas. I was devastated...obviously in a position feeling like I couldn't complain because I know the virus has taken its toll on many people close to me at much more drastic levels...but it still sucked. Within an hour of the news, we were all on stage taking one last cast/crew photo and within the next hour, every dressing room was empty and everyone was on their way home.

It was surreal... I had just gone through quarantine, spent Christmas alone in my hotel room, spent New Year's and my anniversary w/ my love away from her and family, only to barely reach the finish line of a year's long marathon without being able to cross. To be honest, it kinda stung so bad that I didn't really want to talk about it on social media or anything...so I didn't...The only thing that I could do to get it out of me was to do what I do best...in my own time and in my own way. So I got up and created.

This is one of the songs on Lu's latest album that we weren't tasked to create to, but l just felt was one of the most beautiful tracks every time I got to witness Lu perform in rehearsal. I guess, at the time, it kind of embodied how I was feeling. I actually didn't even know if I was ever going to get around to posting about it.. I guess for my dear brother Lu's birthday...this would be as good a time as any.

Happy Birthday and thank you for everything that you are and everything that you've done for me and the Kinjaz. l'm forever inspired by your character and will always cherish the times we've shared and the times to come. I believe the world still needs to see what we all worked on because it's a beautiful show representing beautiful music and there's no way that it can't be shared. Until then, I'll be waiting.

I know I speak of a slightly somber experience with the tour, but I still know that those moments have provided some of the most amazing in my journeys to the motherland. I always have to give love and thanks to the people that made it

amazing: Koko/Eli and all of @SINOSTAGE舞邦 ,
@SINOSTAGE舞邦_熊桑KUMA for assisting me and Vinh on the show and all of the adventures afterwards ;), @SINOSTAGE舞邦_Apple yang and @SINOSTAGE舞邦_JF for moving with me on and off the camera, and of course to my brother @v1nh_ ... every corner of the globe and beyond my guy.
