The digital economy now makes up 40%, of China's gdp.

Since alphago beat the world 'go' champion in 2016, the world of AI has grown exponentially driven by algorithms and computing power on top of big data.

I hope this list can help give a better understanding of which Chinese companies are creating the most value from this sector. The stories of these companies help give an understanding of the growth in importance of algorithms and Computing Power.

First we listed out all those Chinese companies from the digital economy, including both listed cos and unicorns, that are worth more than usd 1bn. Then we focused on companies whose main business is generated from algorithms and Computing Power. In this way, companies like pingan and haier, which are well known for their algorithm teams but whose main business is not driven by algorithms, they were not included. The result was a list of the 100 Most Valuable companies in this field. The list had a cutoff of usd 3bn in the end, with some ten companies like Alibaba, Baidu, Huawei, tencent, etc. being worth usd 100bn or more.
