换个词表达 out of date

前阵子从国外买了一袋猫粮，上面印着Sell by... 想起之前做过的一份稿子，教育相关的，作者大概就是要表达传统教育方式已经不适用这样的意思，我们的翻译就用了sell-by date：
The traditional teaching methods are past their sell-by date in today's education system.

一般商品包装上会有三个日期：
Sell-by date（售卖日期）：这个日期是供商家使用的，用于指示食品在超市或商店中的最后销售日期。
Use-by date（使用日期）：这个日期是指示食品在保持最佳品质和安全性方面的期限。、过了这个日期，食品可能开始变质、失去营养价值或增加食品中细菌的风险。
Best-by date（赏味期）：这个日期是指示食品在品质和口感上的最佳状态期限。 

past the sell-by date这个词组中，sell-by date取的是引申义，表示某物已经过时、不再流行或不再有效。

The concept of gender roles is past its sell-by date in the era of gender equality. 在性别平等的时代，性别角色的概念已经过时。
