In Jingdezhen, there's a ceramic palace built by a 94-year-old granny named Yu Ermei. Granny Yu began learning the craft of porcelain at the age of 12 and founded her own factory at 58, with her products reaching worldwide. In her 80s, she dreamt of constructing a porcelain house, investing her life savings of 20 million yuan and 60,000 pieces from her collection. Despite her children's strong objections and even selling assets to cover funding shortfalls, she persevered. A fellow villager who sells snacks at the entrance of the Porcelain Palace said, "Back then, there was nothing here, not even a road. It was really difficult for her to build a house here against her son's wishes. We all admire her for doing something others wouldn't dare to."
Granny Yu's story truly touches me. We only live once, and it's never too late to do what we love. Furthermore, wealth comes from society and will eventually return to it. The legacy Granny Yu has left for the once-desolate tier-five city of Jingdezhen and for humanity far exceeds those 20 million yuan.
