Don't you find it horrifying? The things that are ongoing, in progress, haven't reached an destination. At the end of every story you don't think of the future, you think of the past, the history and fixed facts. But life is not like this. There's no satisfying or disappointing conclusion because you have to go on. There's nothing that would guarantee you a clear path because the universe is in chaos and confusion. And you don't get to see it ends. You don't get to see your own end. And that's why immortality is so tempting in fictions and we familiarize ourselves with this horror, so that we don't lose our mind against the definite indeterminacy.
