朋友推荐了一本书叫Mother Trucker，我看名字有趣就找来有声书听。结果刚听开头就震惊了，作者列举美国女性被杀被害的现状。血淋淋的语句用作者冷静而坚定的语气说出，更加有冲击力：

「We were killed in public parks and parking lots, on sidewalks and in our cars. We were killed, too, in basements and back bedrooms and on front porches while babies slept. We were tied up, tied down, kept hidden in secret rooms. We were drugged and dragged and beaten, yelled at and made afraid. Men moved around us like the weather, like things to be endured. We suffered at our workplace and we suffered in our bedrooms and we suffered at the hands of people who, in theory, loved us the most.」

「From my small town in Ohio, I began to think of women’s bodies and the many places they should not go: the woods, for example, where
three female joggers were killed in their own American communities in just one August week alone. Women should not jog alone, but also they should not walk alone, hike alone, camp alone, make their way across a parking lot alone at night or during the day or in the morning with
too many bags or one bag or no bags whatsoever.」

这书以回忆录形式呈现，作者Amy是高知女性，大学教授，但体面生活的背后，是多次遭男友的PUA和暴力对待却不敢离开的困境。直到她联系在instagram上发现的“Mother Trucker”卡车司机大姐Joy，直接飞奔阿拉斯加。30岁的困惑教授和50岁洒脱司机共同踏上“美国最危险公路”的北境之旅，Amy才终于有勇气逃离自己的生活。

卡车司机大姐Joy非常飒，瘦小但精壮，是全美国唯一在阿拉斯加冰雪路面开18轮大卡车的女性司机。Joy独立，无畏，热爱并掌控生活，在男性统治的行业闯出一片天地。从外号Mother Trucker就能看出她霸气的性格。本书副标题Finding Joy on the Loneliest Road in America双关梗说的就是Joy大姐。

虽然俩人性格、思想、信仰和人生态度都不一样，但旅途中Amy跟Joy结下深厚情谊，她从Joy那里获得支持和力量。Joy是她的救星，是她的领路人，她甚至多次表示，Joy是她的上帝。长达400多英里最危险公路的驰骋之旅（真是每年都死人的），对她反而是一种自由和解脱。正如Joy所说，这极寒之地就是天堂，而冰雪覆盖的公路就是神圣的地方。

Amy也是在这次冒险中，才真正开始反思自己不断妥协不断让步委曲求全，最后只换来男友羞辱痛骂甚至逐渐向肢体暴力演变的感情。

书中一路开车一路讲述，有沿途美丽风光和危险道路，有遇到的人和事，但核心还是讲女性遭受暴力和侵害的问题，比如Amy对自己被PUA的内省，比如Joy带孩子逃离家暴丈夫的往事。Joy大姐有句名言：Women support other women. It’s the most important thing.

非常可惜的是，Amy在4月份结束公路之旅后，本打算8-9月找Joy大姐再跑一趟阿拉斯加“最危险公路”，结果Joy大姐在8月就因车祸不幸去世。

Amy确实重返了阿拉斯加，
却是去参加Joy大姐的葬礼。

「I’ve heard it said before that sometimes all women have are stories. And that because women are so often stripped of the power or the autonomy or the safety to tell their own, it is up to other women to share their stories for them. 」

于是Amy决定要把Joy的故事讲出来。
就有了这本书。
