Jin Li, the president of Fudan University, stressed that “Liberal arts are of paramount importance. In a mature society, they carry even greater weight than the sciences. The pivotal question in today's context is: how many undergraduate students should we nurture in liberal arts? At our university, liberal arts faculty make up 38.8% of the total. For us, liberal arts education must be pursued with meticulous excellence; you must stand at the pinnacle of your field."
