最近读摩根·豪泽尔的新书The Art of Spending Money,里面出现了一句话:Never make fun of someone for mispronouncing a word, because it means they learned it from reading.
这句话的思考角度非常非常有意思,让人醍醐灌顶。我之前也有读错单词的经历,但从来没想过背后的原因:这个单词我是从书上学的,之前从来没听过它的正确发音。
这一道理放在花钱上也成立,因为每个人的消费习惯都被其成长经历影响。不考虑他人的成长经历就评价他们的消费习惯,这是很傲慢的。
《了不起的盖茨比》开头第一句也表达了类似的意思:Whenever you feel like criticizing any one...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.
