“Just six Xiao Mi La!”, dared my friends.
So six little red devils hopped into my mouth.
At first, I felt a warm embrace,
But then the devils began tap-dancing on my tongue,
Massacring me with the stings of a thousand hornets,
Cackling, sizzling, biting-
But I am Joyce Xu, and I refuse to be defeated by mere vegetables the size of fingernails!
So I gulped the wicked little devils down.
Now I sit, rooted on a porcelain throne,
Bracing myself for a grand, explosive finale,
And making an eternal oath-
“I’m never eating Xiao Mi La ever again!”
