Over the past few weeks I've shared a number of updates on upstream raw materials — particularly the accelerating pressure on glass fabrics and copper foils.

The direction of travel is clear:
• Glass yarn and fabric capacity continues shifting toward low-CTE / low-Dk products, tightening availability of E-glass across mainstream PCB supply
• Copper foil output is being prioritised for advanced packaging and AI infrastructure, with increasing focus on VLP 1–5 and specialty foils
• Heavy copper availability remains structurally constrained as energy, processing time and yield economics limit flexible capacity
• Allocation behaviour is becoming more visible across laminate supply chains as producers protect key sectors and preferred material sets

At the same time, forward order books in high-reliability mil / aero and defence electronics are building.

That combination matters.

As demand firms and upstream constraints intensify, laminate and prepreg availability will increasingly be determined by allocation rather than open market access. Lead-times will extend, and reactive purchasing becomes harder to sustain.

Now is a good time to move.

If you have visibility of upcoming programmes, placing forward orders and establishing call-off schedules for CCL and PP will materially improve the likelihood of securing supply allocation as this cycle tightens.

Early engagement with your supply chain partners will be the differentiator between assured continuity and last-minute firefighting.

If you'd like to discuss forward planning, allocation strategy, or how to reinforce supply for high-reliability builds — feel free to reach out.
