CARDIAC CORONARY CIRCULATION AND CONDUCTION SYSTEM GUIDE
The Lead to Artery Connection
• Lateral Wall (Circumflex - LCx): Remember I, aVL, V5, and V6. High lateral is I and aVL; low lateral is V5 and V6.
• Inferior Wall (Right Coronary Artery - RCA): Remember II, III, and aVF. These look at the bottom of the heart.
• Septal Wall (Left Anterior Descending - LAD): Remember V1 and V2. These look at the "wall" between the ventricles.
• Anterior Wall (Left Anterior Descending - LAD): Remember V3 and V4. This is the front of the heart (the "Widowmaker" territory).
The Electrical Power Source
• RCA feeds the Nodes: It is the primary blood supply for the SA Node and AV Node. If a patient has an inferior MI (RCA), watch for slow heart rates (bradycardia).
• LAD feeds the Wiring: It supplies the Bundle of His and the Bundle Branches. LAD damage often leads to dangerous heart blocks or bundle branch blocks.
• LCx supports the Back: It helps supply the Posterior fascicle of the left bundle.
Quick Notes
• Lateral (LCx): I, aVL, V5, V6
• Inferior (RCA): II, III, aVF
• Septal (LAD): V1, V2
• Anterior (LAD): V3, V4
Remember: The Conduction Flow
• SA Node (The Pacemaker) → AV Node (The Gatekeeper) → Bundle of His → Left/Right Bundle Branches → Purkinje Fibers.
• RCA = "The Rhythm Maker" (Nodes).
• LAD = "The Structure Builder" (Septum and Bundles).
