“深夜我在路上意识恍惚的⾛着，向前⾏进左脚落右脚抬起直觉中我感觉到⾃⼰的脚下⻢上会踩到⼀只⽼⿏，惊恐中我跳转着向后倒退，打开闪光灯才发现那是⼀⽚落叶。”——杨洋
作品以黄铜模拟落叶，将深夜行走时的幻觉（误将落叶视为车辆压死的老鼠）转化为想象中的落叶，铜质材料的冰冷沉重与“惊恐后跳转”的动态瞬间被凝固，揭示出城市化进程中个体的生存焦虑。为缓解这种生存焦虑，杨洋通常进入工作室的第一件事（因为也不知道具体要做什么的时候）：就是拿起黄铜来切出如落叶的形状，在打磨上色。当知道要做什么的时候，杨洋就放下铜树叶去做其他事情。

“Late at night, I walk along the road in a daze. As I move forward—left foot down, right foot lifting—I have the sudden intuition that I am about to step on a dead rat. Startled, I jump back, only to turn on the flashlight and realize it is just a fallen leaf.” — Yang Yang
In this work, Yang Yang uses brass to simulate fallen leaves, translating a nocturnal misperception—the moment of mistaking a leaf for a rat crushed by passing vehicles—into a material form. The cold weight of brass, together with the suspended instant of startled retreat, fixes this fleeting moment in place, revealing an undercurrent of existential anxiety within the processes of urbanization. To mitigate this sense of unease, Yang Yang often begins in the studio—especially when uncertain of what to do—by cutting brass into leaf-like shapes, then sanding and coloring them. When a clearer direction emerges, he sets the brass leaves aside and turns to other work.
