A person's maturity has nothing to do with the passage of years, but lies only in the spiritual cultivation of the heart. The transparency of the mind does not depend on how many worldly experiences one has gone through, but on the calm and open-minded state of mind when facing matters. Living in the mortal world among the ordinary crowd, one ought to learn to reflect on oneself while observing others. When seeing others' faults, look back upon one's own shortcomings; when aware of others' right and wrong, be understanding of their hardships. The more indifferent one's heart is, the less worldly disturbances can hurt them; the broader one's mind becomes, the more freedom and joy life brings. All worldly circumstances are but a single thought away. If obsession lingers deep in the heart, everything becomes a heavy burden; if attachments are let go from the mind, all worldly affairs turn light and simple. Constantly observe and guard your inner self, settle your mind inwardly, and you will find peace and composure amid the hustle and bustle of the mortal world.——Respected Teacher Jia Cuo
