2006年开始创作的作品《二十九年八个月零九天》，这件影像行为作品耗时三年：秦晋坐在灯光黯淡的室内，一遍遍熨烫衣物，直到丝绸在高温下脱水碳化、一触即碎。镜头记录下汗珠顺着发丝滴落的瞬间，记录下一件件华服化为“鬼魅的存在”。这看似日常的家务劳动，被她扭转为近乎宗教般的仪式——熨烫不再是使衣物平整，而是使其“死亡”。凯伦·史密斯指出：“艺术家将物品带到彻底摧毁的边缘，但又施加控制，将它们从毁灭途中救回“。
Begun in 2006, *Twenty-Nine Years, Eight Months, Nine Days* is a video performance that took three years to complete. Qin Jin sits in a dimly lit interior, repeatedly ironing garments until the silk, subjected to sustained heat, dehydrates, carbonizes, and becomes fragile to the touch. The camera records beads of sweat slipping down strands of her hair, and captures each piece of clothing as it is transformed into a ghostly presence. What appears to be a mundane domestic task is here reconfigured into an act approaching ritual. Ironing no longer serves to smooth the fabric, but to bring about its “death.” As Karen Smith has observed, “the artist brings objects to the brink of total destruction, yet exerts control, rescuing them from the course of their annihilation.”
