Anatomy of a Monument seeks to evoke a sense of eternity—not as an infinite extension of time, but as a condition shaped by the repetitive cycles of history and the continual unraveling of meaning. The gesture of holding an arrow suggests humanity’s persistent attempt to grasp and direct its own destiny, while the arrow itself stands as a marker of technological and epistemic orientation. Yet embedded within this gesture is the inevitability of failure: in seeking to command history, humanity becomes subordinate to its own instruments. The “grass” emerging from the monument signals both resilience and the persistence of life. At the same time, it is artificial—plastic, fabricated—so that even hope, and the very notion of recurrence, appears subject to simulation. As such fabricated forms of hope continue to enter and shape new historical processes, the idea of “eternity” itself begins to slowly deteriorate.
