Karastoyanov Ivan Ivanovich – commander of sabotage - partisan detachment of Head quarter of Army 9.
In August 8, 1941 in region of Apostolove was created partisan detachment in amount of 50 people, commander of what was comrade KARASTOYANOV. Detachment being in floodplains and acted in enemy’s rear in region of Nikopol, Voroncovka from August 13 to October 20, 1941 (two months). During acting detachment has communication with operational point of intelligence department - live at beginning, during Red Army unit’s retreatment from river Dnieper – on radio.
1. August 20, 1941 group of partisans, was being in ambush in region of Nikopol, destroyed passenger car with 3 German’s officers. Captured valuable documents, including map with applied position of enemy troops from dead major of communication, troops located in reigon of Nikopol, Zaporizhia, also was applied communication scheme.
2. August 27, 1941 group of partisans in region Grushevskiy Kut was killed 5 Romanian officers and 1 corporal, on captured documents was discovered moving of 7-th Romanian cavalry regiment in region of Nikopol.
3. For September 1941 detachment acted in region of Grushevskiy Kut and river Temnaya killed 73 German’s soldiers and officers, captured 1 mortar, 1 easel machine-gun, rifles and ammunition,
4. 5.10.41 partisan detachment being in ambush in floodplains in region Grushevskiy Kut let group of Germans in amount of 60 peoples on distance 25-30 meters and opened machine-gun fire, as result most part of them was killed, detachment captured 2 hand machine-guns and several submachine guns. Without losses.
5. 9.10.41 enemy allocated group of 200 soldiers with support of artillery and mortar fire against our partisans. Detachment on Karasoyanov in cooperation in other partisan’s detachments being in floodplains, conducted combat from 8 hours in morning to 19 hours in evening. As result enemy group was completely destroyed, around 10-15 people escaped. Captured 4 machine-guns, 2 mortars, 1 flamethrower, 20 submachine guns, 18 binoculars, a lot of ammunitions. Among killed Germans was: 1 lieutenant-colonel, 2 Oberleutnant and 1 medic. In this combat comrade KARASTOYANOV received 2 injuries.
As result of 2 months combat actions into enemy’s rea was killed around 1000 Nazi’s soldiers and officers and captured a lot of equipment. Besides detachment of Karastoyanov bring valuable information from captured Germans, documents and sent his agents deep into enemy’s rear. Gathered information he timely delivered to our intelligence agencies.
