Ethanol crosses the placental barrier and reaches the fetus at the same concentration present in the maternal blood, interfering with fetal development. This study evaluates the effects of 2% or 12% ethanol as the exclusive source of liquid during gestation and lactation on physical and neurobehavioral development of rat offspring from birth to weaning.
