英语里原来有这么一个专门的概念:右分支句(right‑branching)和左分支句(left‑branching)。
给出两个例子:
右分支句
The knight held aloft his sword and yelled after he pulled it from the dragon's heart.
→ 主句在前,修饰信息在后
→ 英语最自然、最常见的结构
→ 读起来顺、线性、信息按时间顺序展开
左分支句
After pulling it from the dragon's heart, the knight held aloft his sword and yelled.
→ 修饰从句在前,主句在后
→ 读者必须先处理背景信息,再等到主句出现
→ 更像日语、德语、拉丁语等“左分支语言”的风格
