Some stories are not written on paper – they are carved in stone.
Over two thousand years ago, Emperor Ashoka raised pillars inscribed with compassion and peace. The most famous stands at Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon. Four lions atop it – now the State Emblem of India.
Carved in Brahmi script, these are among India's earliest records. Not silent stones, but an emperor's timeless message: true greatness lies in compassion.
