Opened on Sunday in Beijing's Huairou District, the 2026 International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) is underway. Starting today, a series of themed salons and forums will bring together leading scientists from around the world to discuss cutting-edge trends in various fields. The event has attracted recipients of prestigious international awards, including the Fields Medal and the Turing Award. Themed "Advancing science for humanity," the congress has drawn roughly 1,000 scientists, researchers and young scholars from China and abroad. The event runs through August 21.
