In October 1935, the Central Red Army reached Wuqi, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The Kuomintang troops, who had been pursuing them for months, were closing in fast. Mao Zedong issued a firm order: the enemy must not be allowed to enter the Soviet base area, thus beginning the famous "Tail-Cutting" battle.
Just days before the battle, the Red Army paused for a brief rest in Zhangwanzi Village. Zhang Tingjie and his wife made buckwheat noodles for Mao Zedong. This humble bowl has since become a cherished part of Long March history. CGTN’s Chen Lanyou visits Zhangwanzi Village to find out more about the story. http://t.cn/AXl9GPuS
