Last time, I posted on my page about Aventurine meeting Ratio’s family for the first time, so today I finally drew it!
After RR had been dating for a little over half a year, Ratio invited Aventurine to his home planet for a family feast. Once everyone was seated at the table, Ratio’s father brought out a tray of pastries and handed one to each guest. However, when it was Aventurine’s turn, there wasn’t one left for him.
Just as Aventurine was sitting there, utterly confused, Ratio’s mother took a pastry just like the others, only bigger, cut it into four pieces, and served one piece each to Aventurine, Ratio, and Ratio’s parents.
Everyone at the table burst into laughter as they watched Churin awkwardly eat his piece of cake. Then, they raised their glasses and cheered, “Congratulations!”
It was only afterward that Ratio explained the meaning behind it. Only members of the host family were allowed to share the specially cut cake, symbolizing that they were a complete family, sharing in the sweetness and blessings of life together.
Meanwhile, the smaller pastries on the tray, which were served to the guests, were made from the same kind of cake as the one that had been cut up. They symbolized hospitality, representing the host’s kindness and their intention to treat every guest who came to visit with warmth and fairness.
Ratio: “So, the reason you didn’t get one of the little pastries is because you’re a member of the family.”
Aventurine: “Wait... so everyone at the table already knew about our relationship when they raised their glasses and cheered ‘Congratulations’?”
Ratio: “Not at first. But they figured it out when my mother shared the cake with you.”
