Pakistan Shines at 2026 Southern China Book Fair with National Pavilion and Cultural Showcase
巴基斯坦亮相2026南国书香节：国家馆揭幕，文化展演精彩纷呈
Guangzhou, August 28, 2026 — The 2026 Southern China Book Fair officially opened today in Guangzhou and will run for five days, from August 27 to 31. As one of South China’s largest annual cultural events, this year’s fair spans approximately 40,000 square metres, featuring 31 themed pavilions and bringing together more than 300 publishing institutions from China and abroad.
广州，2026年8月28日电——2026南国书香节于广州正式启幕，展期5天，举办时间为8月27日至31日。作为华南地区规模最大的年度文化盛会之一，本届书展展览面积约4万平方米，设置31个主题展馆，汇聚国内外300余家出版机构参展。
H.E. Mr. Sardar Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, attended the opening ceremony of the Eurasian Pavilion at the 2026 Southern China Book Fair and delivered opening remarks.

In his address, the Consul General reflected on Pakistan’s fruitful participation in the 2025 Southern China Book Fair, which featured traditional Pakistani musical performances and exhibition by one Pakistani enterprise. He highlighted that Pakistan has further expanded its participation this year with the launch of its dedicated Pakistan National Pavilion. Three Pakistani enterprises and the country’s leading publishing institution are participating in the exhibition, marking a significant expansion of Pakistan’s cultural showcase and trade exchanges at the Fair.
总领事在致辞中回顾了巴基斯坦2025年参加南国书香节的丰硕成果，去年巴基斯坦带来本土传统乐器演出，并有一家巴基斯坦企业参展。他介绍，今年巴基斯坦参展规模进一步扩大，特设巴基斯坦国家馆。三家巴基斯坦企业以及该国头部出版机构亮相展会，标志着巴基斯坦在本届书香节上的文化展示与经贸交流实现大幅拓展。
The Consul General emphasized that books serve as a timeless bridge connecting different languages, peoples and civilizations. Through platforms such as the Southern China Book Fair, Pakistan remains committed to sharing its rich cultural heritage and spirit of friendship with Chinese audiences. He noted that this year’s event carries special significance as 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China—a relationship forged on mutual trust, respect and shared aspirations for peace and development. He further pointed out that, in Islamic tradition, the first divine revelation was “Iqra”, meaning “Read,” highlighting the fundamental importance accorded to learning and knowledge.
总领事强调，书籍是连接不同语言、民族与文明的永恒桥梁。巴基斯坦将借助南国书香节这类平台，继续致力于向中国民众展示本国丰厚的文化底蕴与友好精神。他表示，巴中友谊建立在互信互尊的基础之上，双方共同追求和平与发展。2026年适逢巴中建交75周年，本届书展因此意义特殊。他还提及，伊斯兰传统中，天启的首句启示为“Iqra”，意为“诵读”，以此说明求知与学识的重要地位。
The opening event also featured authentic Rubab performance by one Pakistani artist sponsored by the Consulate General. The captivating melodies and rhythms of the traditional music enchanted visitors and vividly showcased the richness and charm of Pakistan’s folk artistic traditions.
开馆现场，由总领馆支持的巴基斯坦艺术家带来纯正的鲁巴布乐器演奏。动人的旋律与节奏深深吸引到场观众，生动展现巴基斯坦民间艺术传统的丰富内涵与独特魅力。
Pakistan’s Publishing House Ferozsons (Pvt.) Ltd., is participating in the Fair under invitation, bringing a diverse collection of authoritative books and literary works from Pakistan for display and exchange. Notably, the Publishing House has been translating popular Chinese children’s books into Urdu, bringing outstanding Chinese literary works to young readers in Pakistan.
巴基斯坦出版社Ferozsons (Pvt.) Ltd受邀参展，带来种类丰富的巴基斯坦权威典籍与文学作品用于展出交流。值得一提的是，该出版社一直将中国优秀儿童读物翻译为乌尔都语，把中国精品文学带给巴基斯坦青少年读者。
In addition, the National Pavilion of Pakistan features a themed photo exhibition celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The historical photographs vividly portray the enduring friendship and close cooperative ties between the two countries, allowing visitors to gain a deeper appreciation of the remarkable journey of bilateral relations and the profound friendship built over the past 75 years.
此外，巴基斯坦国家馆设置巴中建交 75 周年主题图片展。一张张历史照片生动呈现两国历久弥坚的友谊与紧密合作关系，让参观者深切感受 75 年来双边关系的发展历程与深厚情谊。
The enduring friendship between Pakistan and China over the past 75 years has been strengthened significantly by people-to-people exchanges. In interview with People’s Daily, on the sidelines of the event, the Consul General expressed the hope that the Pakistan National Pavilion would encourage more visitors to learn about Pakistan and promote closer cooperation between the two countries in culture, publishing, education and the creative industries. He warmly invited visitors to explore the Pavilion, engage with the exhibitors, and experience the vibrant creativity, rich culture and warm hospitality of Pakistan.
