8-Year-Old Designer for NASA's Lunar Mission's Zero-G indicator “Rise"
NASA Welcomed Lucas Ye and his family to the splashdown viewing. Lucas’s mascot, “Rise,” served as the mission’s Zero-G indicator.
Lucas is a second-grade student from Mountain View, California. His design, "Rise," was selected by NASA from over 2,600 global entries to serve as the official Zero Gravity Indicator for the Artemis II mission.
It’s quite a feat for someone so young—his mascot was meticulously brought to life by NASA’s Thermal Blanket Lab using flight-certified materials to accompany the astronauts on their journey around the Moon.
