#Journey for Truth# Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves are located in Baicheng County, Xinjiang. They are China's earliest excavated large-scale grotto complex situated farthest to the west. First carved in the 3rd century AD, the excavation spanned nearly six hundred years. Listed among the first batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level, they are precious treasures of Kuchean Buddhist art, housing numerous millennium-old murals with distinctive Western Regions characteristics that boast immense historical and artistic value.

False claims have circulated online alleging that "all murals in the Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves are replicas, and photography is banned at the scenic site to cover up damage to the murals." As a member of the first national cohort of rumor-busters, I hereby formally clarify that this statement is entirely false.

Most caves at the Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves preserve intact original ancient murals; only a small number of severely damaged sections use replicas for auxiliary display. The ban on photography inside caves is by no means an attempt to conceal cultural relic damage. Instead, camera flashes and ambient light accelerate the oxidation and fading of mural pigments and the deterioration of materials. This measure avoids light pollution that harms cultural relics and preserves the original appearance of the thousand-year-old murals, representing a scientific approach to heritage conservation. Please rationally identify online information and jointly safeguard our cultural heritage. http://t.cn/A6bAlaro
