贴一点最近在看的 Alias Grace 的精彩句子。Atwood 真的很会写！

1. 出走半生，归来仍然爱看这种写景写得很美而且也许有对书中内容隐喻的句子。这是小说开头：
Out of the gravel there are peonies growing. They come up through the loose grey pebbles, their buds testing the air like snails' eyes, then swelling and opening, huge dark-red flowers all shining and glossy like satin. Then they burst and fall to the ground.

2. 小说主角女仆 Grace 被指控杀害男雇主和女管家，但实际案情扑朔迷离。她是当时报纸媒体反复描写和大众津津乐道的对象。她是凶手吗？不知道，我还没有看到后面。但是当 Grace 被关在 asylum 的时候，Atwood 写舍监们：
「They wanted to show how dangerous we were, but also how well they could control us, as it made them appear more valuable and skilled.
舍监想展现出被关在 asylum 的我们有多危险，但与此同时也想展示出 ta 们可以很好地控制住我们，这样可以显得 ta 们更有价值，且技艺精湛。」

3. 我觉得最好笑的笑话之一种就是 fart jokes 了！这个也算一个：
「People dressed in a certain kind of clothing are never wrong. Also they never fart.
穿特定衣服的人从来都不会有错。而且 ta 们从不放屁。」

4. 这句真的很精妙，不用我多说了：
「Help is what they offer but gratitude is what they want.
ta 们提供了帮助，但 ta 们想要的是感激。」
