劳罗·梅勒是巴西北里奥格朗德州联邦大学（UFRN）副教授，并入选巴西外交部吉马良斯·罗萨学院“海外讲师”计划，现任北京外国语大学访问学者。他拥有米纳斯吉拉斯州天主教大学（PUC-Minas）文学博士学位，并在英国利物浦大学流行音乐研究所完成了博士后研究。

No livro, Meller apresenta o universo criativo do famoso sambista, explorando seu estilo, o contexto histórico de sua produção e sua influência na cultura popular brasileira até os dias de hoje.
No contexto do Ano Cultural Brasil-China, o professor ministrará uma palestra sobre o tema na Universidade de Estudos Estrangeiros de Pequim (BFSU), no dia 27 de março, abordando também o desenvolvimento da música brasileira e os significados sociais e culturais que ela expressa.
A iniciativa busca ampliar o olhar do público sobre a cultura brasileira, aprofundar a compreensão da língua por meio da música e estimular o interesse pelos estudos na área, promovendo a sensibilidade intercultural e a formação humanística.
Lauro Meller é professor associado da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Integra o programa de cátedras do Instituto Guimarães Rosa, do Ministério das Relações Exteriores do Brasil, e atualmente atua como pesquisador visitante na BFSU. É doutor em Literatura pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas) e realizou estágio pós-doutoral no Institute of Popular Music da Universidade de Liverpool, no Reino Unido.

As part of the Brazil–China Cultural Year, Professor Meller will deliver a lecture on this topic at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on March 27, also addressing the development of Brazilian music and its social and cultural meanings.
The initiative seeks to broaden the public’s understanding of Brazilian culture, deepen engagement with the Portuguese language through music, and foster interest in related fields of study, promoting intercultural awareness and a humanistic perspective.
Lauro Meller is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). He is part of the Guimarães Rosa Chair Program of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and currently serves as a visiting researcher at BFSU. He holds a PhD in Literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas) and completed postdoctoral research at the Institute of Popular Music, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
